Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh and her husband Ramachandran Muniandy, who failed to register their daughter's race as 'Anak Malaysia', clarified today that the final choice of 'Chinese' was picked by the National Registration Department (NRD) officer.

The couple (left) said in statement to Malaysiakini today that Chinese was what the system/officer picked even though they demanded for 'Anak Malaysia and they maintained that neither Chinese nor Indian is inaccurate to define the race of their daughter, Shay Adora Ram.

The couple said that considering that the ethnicity provided for in the system is already incorrect, it makes no difference if she's Chinese or Indian. Therefore, they proceeded with the system's selection in order to obtain the birth certificate first.

The couple said, "Truth matters. Recognise her mixed parentage and her Malaysian identity and register her accurately is all that we ask of the NRD."

Yeoh told Malaysiakini on Tuesday she and Ramachandran wanted to put off the birth registration of their child, but the NRD officer had cautioned her that late registration of the birth would cause problems, therefore she had no choice but to proceed with the registration even though Shay's current ethnicity defined in the birth certificate was inaccurate - hence meaningless.

motip sah sah orang yang kawen tu muak nak pegi ayer hitam ni kan...ade aku kesah...cari2 punya carik..ujung2 beli jam ada ayat2 quran...kira ok lah tu kan..nanti dia leh letak kat umah baru...

nak hadiahkan pengantin pompuan baju tidor sexy macam x kena lak..sebab pengantin perempuan tu ala2 desa muka dia..kang pakai baju tidur lace dah mirip wan maimunah lak...

paling x leh blah pengantin lelaki pakai safety boot sebab ujan n lecak..sedeh tau...kira ok lah tu sytlo..walaupun...

Sebenarnya saya kurang arif bab pemakanan Sugar Glider ni. Dalam masa dua tiga hari membela Sugar Glider @ Suggies ni...saya beri mereka makan epal jer. Tapi saya tengok epal tu macam tak berusik pun...ye la, suggies ni baby lagi..so epal mungkin kurang sesuai.

Baru baru ni dapat tahu suggies suka makan telur rebus, jadi saya pun bagi lah dia makan telur rebus...jom kita tengok suggies suka ka tak suka ?

Today is just not my day. Couldn't find a pair of stockings/socks to fix the biting issues of my new shoes. Left the house 18mins late. When I reach the bus stop, 83 just turned out and left. Decided to wait for 62, only to realise that I didn't had my EZ Link card with me. Went home and came out again.

Then was inside the office fixing the new delivery schedule for cashier, then accidentally knock MY HEAD INTO THE EDGE OF THE OFFICE CUPBOARD. lucky no bleed, no faint. and while doing a cino, i scalded two of my fingers.

then got this EX STAFF LOOKING FOR JEREMY KOK, I replied he not available now. Then he asked for NEO KONG. I replied he's not here. then ask me who's on the line, i replied, Jac (knowing his identity). And he goes: OOOOHHHHH! MDM JAC AH. CAN YOU HELP ME GO SEE IF STARHUB OPEN LIAO NOT?!. like wtf. is the restaurant a hotline for you? please check it yourself, and dont bothering us. to which he replied: EH MDM JAC, YOU DONCH BU-WEE MEEEEEE!.

like HELLO?! nobody likes to talk to you now because you keep calling us to do this to do that and you are AFFECTING our work. and our restaurant number isn't a HOTLINE for you to call to keep talking to our staff about WHAT PHONES YOU WANT TO BUY NOR WHAT PHONES ARE GOOD. starhub is just NEXT DOOR, SINGTEL IS JUST OPP AND M1 IS JUST UPSTAIRS! GO ASK THEM YOURSELF! and BY THE WAY, our RM has given instructions to call the security should you come down and disturb ANY OF OUR STAFFS again. so, please dont come and disturb us again. bye.

Is Having Gay Friend Important To You?

Why do you think having a gay friend is important in your life?

You want someone who can understand you. You want someone whom you can openly talk to about gay topics. You want someone who can see you for who you really are. You want someone who you can trust and depend on emotionally.

Just imagine how stressed up you'd be whenever you have doubts or problems related to gay lifestyle that you simply cannot talk to anyone. Don't you wish there is someone who can truly understand you? The best is if that friend has gone through similar experience for you to seek the answers to all your questions.

It is said that friendships is more important to your well-being psychologically and emotionally than your family. It is not to say family is not important but without friends, you don't feel complete emotionally because you lack the support outside your home.

You may have a *fag hag whom is comfortable with your sexuality and whom you can talk to about guys and not be afraid or embarrassed about. In addition to that, your fag hag friend can also be your shopping partner and even accompany you to a gay bar/club.

But... when it comes to topics such as why that guy isn't interested in me, how to get him interested, how to ask him out, how does another gay man think, what's in his mind, what does he think about me, why am I gay, and many more... you really hope to get the points of view or answers from another gay man. Therefore, don't you wish you have a close gay friend whom you can always talk to and discuss about anything related to gay life?

Having said that, do you have this close gay friend in your life yet? Some of you may have a lot of gay friends but how many of them are truly close to you when it comes to heart to heart talk?

From the moment I know I'm different from other normal boys, there was no one to tell me why am I different, no one to explain why I only like boys but not girls, no one to teach me what is it like to be gay when you grow up, no one to tell me whether it is right or wrong being gay, is it a choice or I'm born this way. I am sure all of you have grown up having these unanswered questions at the back of your head but there is no one there to provide you the answers.

Hence, you try to seek for the answers by yourself through books, articles, Internet, magazines but you would still prefer to have a real person whom you can just ask whenever there is a question pops up in your mind. I have always been that person whom is willing to be someone's friend if you ever need someone to talk to. So, if you ever need a gay friend to talk to about anything from family problem, studies, work, love life, dating, etc., you are always welcomed to email me.

*fag hag is a gay slang phrase referring to woman who has gay or bisexual men as close friends.

Augustdiners explores Yarra Valley, Melbourne

I.am.now.typing.this.in.silverspoon. *hiccup*

Allow me to be emotional a little, as i indulge alone overlooking the restaurant with a Dunkel Weihenstephaner on my hand. *hiccup* I was thinking, how lovely it would be if there's a new awesomeness restaurant miraculously pop out of no-where. Ever since coming back from my non-too-long-holiday, i have not seen sparkles in my eyes when restaurant is mentioned. And when ask what to have for dinner, it would be "whatever suits u best" which.is.like.totally.not.ME. I DO NOT do whatever. I always have at the back of my mind what to eat before i was even asked.

So today.. just because i feel like writing something *hiccup* i would like to share with you my recent trip to Yarra Valley, Melbourne. Given the constant gloomy weather of melbourne, we were hoping with fingers and toes crossed hard for a good weather.
God must be feeling in a breezy mood that day, because we did have our good weather, albeit one that was slightly chilly, but with a couple of wine down my throat, im already feeling warm and fuzzy allover =)

Before i head into too much details, i'd like to apologise from our long lost absence. Mainly because of Crazieapple being busy with l**e, and Crusader bz with something that starts with a C, ends with a C, and has a C in the middle. Go figure. For me, which neither has l**e nor CCC, still manage to occupy my time with W**K. 9 hours a day is barely enough.

So back to the topic. I enjoyed myself immensely in Yarra Valley. We woke up late that day and only made our journey there at 2-ish, which means we barely had time to visit all the wineries, so we picked a few. Yering Station, Yarrawood, and Tarra Warra.
Who says theres nothing free in this world. In yarra valley, there is plenty of FREE wine tasting. You can just stand by their wine tasting area whole day and try all the wines they have to offer. We often started with the whites that leads to the dessert wines, then red light bodied, to the full bodied, and by the end of the testing, your palate is so mixed up that you forgot which is good and end up buying the whole lot. This is their strategy me thinks, EVIL! It doesnt help that the wines are so deliciously cheap, we end up buying a few bottles at every stop we made.
We drank a couple of bottles and brought back a few to further continue our night as most wineries closes at 5pm. Needless to say, i was happily drunk that night.

Among all the wineries, we enjoyed ourselves at Tarra Warra the best, perhaps it was because we manage to catch the sunset which was breathtaking, and perhaps it was our last stop of the day, and we've already got ourselves filled with some loving sexy wines, and you know.. feeling warm and fuzzy all over. =)

Start Your Day by Making Decisions

The first step to action is to make a decision. Decide what you want to do today and follow through with some action. The opposite of action is indecision, whereby you waffle between projects, not sure what to do, and then you allow worry and doubt to creep in. Hovering just beneath these, in your subconscious, is the fear that you're not really going anywhere, that you're not good enough to achieve the goals that you've set out for yourself. Then you start to doubt your actions (and inactions) even further, and worry even more, and suddenly you're on this vicious cycle and feel paralyzed with indecisions, and then everything feels daunting, and nothing is getting done and suddenly your whole future seems to be bleak. Ever feel like that? Not a good way to start the day.

Napoleon Hill wrote in Think and Grow Rich that "The six basic fears become translated into a state of worry, through indecision." But in order to make a decision (especially if you're already feeling flustered or overwhelmed), you need to take a deep breath, calm yourself down and think a little more clearly by making a prioritized to-do list that you want to accomplish today (ideally do it the evening before so you're ready to jump into it). Accept the fact that you're not going to accomplish everything and there are tons of things you've been meaning to get around to this past week (past month), so choose the most important ones for today only, those that ideally will take you close to your goals), and put them on top of your list and then prioritize these. Then make that first decision by choosing that first item and quickly delve into it.

For the time being, ignore everything else on that list! That's when you start getting into trouble, when your attention and your focus shifts to everything else that you need to do and then suddenly, you're not working on any of them. You've become the proverbial donkey that can't decide which haystack to eat and starves to death! Even the Queen in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass, can't do all six impossible things before breakfast (or lunch as I recentlyblogged about) at the same time. She has to choose one impossible thing first, and then when that's complete, choose the number two impossible thing, and steadily work her way through all six.

No one said this is going to easy, and I bet nothing on your list is truly impossible. The fact that you put it on your list shows that you think it's possible since it's on a "to-do" list, not an "impossible-to-do" list. Your list may seem merely impossible, because, possibly, you're looking at the whole list! You have failed to choose only one to start with. Keep in mind it is impossible to do everything at once!

Also, to control or protect your morning (day) even more, avoid checking your email until after you accomplish at least one thing, or your whole morning can get derailed by someone else's problem. Even good news can throw you off your schedule! Good news and especially bad (especially when it includes more work!) can wait. Make that decision right now and get going. If you don't, then you're back to square one, and nothing is getting done, and your life is once again falling apart . . . . Not today, though. Today you've already decided that this is going to be your most productive day ever!

For the past 50 years, MCA has been the bedrock of the Chinese community, championing linguistic, economic and political interests. But today it finds itself at a crossroads especially after the Sarawak state election when all signs point that the community is now throwing its support for the fledgling Pakatan Rakyat, in particular its component party DAP, leaving MCA in its most precarious situation to date.

In an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini, MCA president Chua Soi Lek said he believes the Chinese community had long exhibited sophisticated pragmatism when it comes to voting, ensuring a healthy mix of its representatives on both sides of the Dewan Rakyat floor but of late, he laments, this balancing act has gone awry.

Chua who has seen 35 years of politicking, said, "The Chinese are a very strategic community. They want somebody in the government to articulate their frustrations, (but) they also want a strong opposition to keep (check) on the government. But sometimes, when they do this balancing act, they go haywire."

Chua admitted that the BN government wasn't a perfect government - having a lot of weaknesses, corruption, abuse of power and it was not living up to its words. At the same time, Chua questioned if the opposition had done anything better than the BN government.

So, you see Chua keeps targeting (I see it as blaming) the Chinese community. If he readily admits that the BN government has a lot of weaknesses, then what is it doing to overcome them?

Willie Nelson gets fine for marijuana possession

June 09, 2011SAN ANTONIO, June 9 — When Willie Nelson is on the road again, he will be travelling without a Texas drug charge hanging over his head.

A West Texas prosecutor said yesterday that the legendary singer and songwriter has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and has agreed to pay a US$500 (RM1,500) fine plus court costs of about US$280.

"I have given him the option to do it by mail," said C.R. Bramblett, the county attorney in remote Hudspeth County, where Nelson (picture) was charged with marijuana possession last November.

A Border Patrol officer smelled pot inside Nelson's tour bus when it was pulled over at a checkpoint.

Bramblett said he has spoken with Nelson's attorney, and the singer has agreed to the plea deal. Bramblett expects the case to be settled within two weeks.

"All he has to do is sign the papers, and get me a cashier's cheque for the money," Bramblett told Reuters.

Bramblett said the case will be dismissed entirely if Nelson stays out of trouble for 30 days.

He says officials have determined that there was a "little bit less than two ounces" of marijuana inside the bus, which allows the case to be treated as a misdemeanour.

Officials had initially reported that as much as five ounces of pot was discovered, which would have made the case a felony.

"He got the same thing I'd give to anybody," Bramblett said of the settlement. — Reuters

Criticism of Gagasan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps) is growing louder with a multi-religious body joining the fray to rap Gaps for claiming that only Malays and bumiputera are entitled to scholarships.

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) said in a statement today that Gaps' remarks were "untenable", baseless and without support from the Federal Constitution,

MCCBCHST president Reverend Dr Thomas Philips (below) said, "The only provision relating to special position of Malays in the Federal Constitution relating to scholarships is Article 153...It only talks about special position of the Malays and natives of Sabah and Sarawak. Special rights is not mentioned in the article. The word 'bumiputera' is not found anywhere in the Federal Constitution."

Gaps, an Umno-linked pressure group, had said that only Malays and bumiputera have the right to receive government scholarships based on the Reid Commission, the five-member Commonwealth panel that drafted the nation's constitution in 1956 but MCCBCHST refuted this, saying that the wording of the federal constitution providing for a "reasonable proportion" of the scholarships to be reserved for Malays and natives of Sabah and Sarawak ruled out giving 100 percent of the scholarships to them.

No...I'm not shaking my booty (or lack of). I'm talking about Snö, shake it your way! rif and I spotted this kiosk while walking around the food court in Pavilion KL. While the colour pink generally doesn't appeal to me, I was attracted to the candy-ness of this kiosk.

The menu is pretty interactive -- you simply go to one of the iPad displays and decide on your Snö and pay for it once your order is processed.

I went for the easiest option; Snö Signature (RM9.90 - medium). Judging from the number of orders for this Snö, is looks like their best seller. This shake of vanilla ice cream, Nutella, Ferrero Rocher and Cadbury Flakes had just the right balance of chocolate, crunch and creaminess.

You can also make your own Snö, which is perfect for fusspots. Just a few minutes ago, I called Citibank and talked to a customer service officer. While my memory is still fresh, let me recap our conversation. It went something like this:

Me: I've not viewed my e-statement for a long time because I've forgotten both my username and password.

Officer: We will get an officer to call you and then give you the ATM pin.

Me: You mean you will mail the ATM pin to me?

Officer: Yes.

Me: What if the mail gets lost in the way? Is there another way?

Officer: No. We will mail the ATM pin to you and you need to register at the ATM in Citibank.

Me: Ok. In that case, can you tell me what's my current outstanding balance?

Officer: Sorry, I can't. All the officers are using the system.

Me: You mean there's not enough terminals for all your officers?

I always start my post with a so.

So....

I think my stomach has worms T_____T I have been eating a lot lately, maybe just the amount of times I eat scares me more than the actual amount of food I had. So it's the usual, oats, egg whites, and some other snacks. I'm writing down here to remind myself how much food I am actually taking in *gulps*

Breakfast:
Half bowl of wantan mee with few pieces of charsiew and dumpling (nom the charsiew is like *melt*

"snack":
2 chocolate chip crumble muffin (HAH! you see I end up finishing what I made wtf)

late lunch:
a slice of the super big dumpling (ba zhang). so good. I only get this once a year okay but the amount of oil in it is just super scary =/

tea:
yogurt with honey, cinnamon and special k cereal (bout half cup of cereal)

dinner:
oats porridge (4tbs of oats) with honey and cinnamon (getting very repetitive eh my flavours -_-)
2 egg whites + 1 yolk (it has been too long, the yolk was 3/4 cook omg)
tuna caesar salad (romaine lettuce + tuna chunks in water + fat free caesar dressing)

You know what I hope most is that the oats I take in, can actually absorb fats wtf. Walau I say until like oats are like sponge ok hahahahahahaha Ok I'm on a high.

Tomorrow is FULL BLAST GYM DAY. Think I'll be spending what, (hopefully) 3 hours there. Can I hear a HELL YEA? That's a 1 week quota for normal people heee. And I think it's about time I switch around the routines, prolly go to another class on another day, and work on abs, arms yada yada, just mixing them around, my body might be getting use to all the same routines!!! And yes, I'm on a plateau again. The same plateau I was on 1 month ago which I lost and gained back during Bangkok -.-

I dunno why but this picture turns me on. I need MORE of these mannnnnn.

What are your thoughts on what I'm eating? Ya think it's healthy? (minus the muffins cough and dumplings cough). To my nutritionist-to-be reader, verdict? hahaha

I was intending to skip this post altogether but then again, what the hell, I did take the time to take all these photos throughout the performance, and it did look pretty neat.

So I sat down last night and started editing these photos, all 30 of them.

Enjoy.

A Musical Fountain Performance in front of the National Museum in Barcelona, starting from 8pm everyday for half an hour, and comes on every hour after that.

The photo didn't do this justice but the water was so till really really really high!!!

I embarked on my earn money online journey two years back and it got postponed when I got pregnant and further delayed when new baby arrives…and until now, I still have not had the time to fully concentrate on building more links, adding more posts, doing all the online work needed to get me more money-making traffic and clicks.

Well.

DESPITE this, income from my sites (yes, I have more than ONE frigging website. If anyone tells you that they can earn money online just from one freaking website, well, not everyone can do it. Admittedly some managed to do it but most of us, do it with multiple sites!) have been steadily increasing. This is DESPITE my not having time to work on my websites to turn it all into money making sites! This is DESPITE my lackadaisical attitude towards building more valuable links to my sites, creating more posts in my sites, adding more valuable keywords to my sites…(which is ALL crucial towards earning money from blogs and websites).

So.

This just proves one thing. My sifu /master in earning money online are REALLY, REALLY good. Seriously. They are so good and their method really works. Now, if I do ALL that they taught me, I'd probably be swimming in USD now. The fact is I am like the black sheep amongst their many students (hangs head in shame), I only executed part of what they taught me and still…er…dragging the rest of what I should be doing.

I was on clinic duty again today. No longer limping, I wasn't quite bothered to look for a nearby parking space. It had been quite a while since I last had any proper exercise, so yep, maybe the extra walk would do me good.

As I was walking towards the hospital, a guy riding a bicycle passed by, shouting to everyone, "WOI! TALAK OTAK PUNYA OLANG!" Not sure who he was talking about though… the people around him… or himself… ;-)

When I got to the doctor's room, the doctor wasn't there yet. According to the nurse, there were supposed to be 2 new cases, but both weren't there yet. So I went over to the usual room, took out my netbook and started FB-ing to pass the time.

It was almost 11 am when finally SN came in with a new case. Fadil, a 30 year old guy, soft spoken but quite chatty I must say. Used to be a make-up artist before he fell ill, making him unable to work. Due to his family's tendency to go to the bomoh where his own sister was said to have been "kena buatan orang", he thought he was a similar victim too.

That was until early this year when he was hospitalised and blood tests showed he was HIV+. His CD4 then was as low as 4! He was given HAART immediately. Now his CD4 has gone up to 121, alhamdulillah. What he regretted was, the news was conveyed to his sister first, and the sister told the whole family before they conveyed the news to him. But the family seemed okay, except maybe one of his older sisters who didn't feel comfortable eating Fadil's cooking.

Fadil's cooking? Ah yes, cooking is actually his first love. Yes, he used to be make-up artist when he was in KL, but after he fell ill and became too weak to work, he went back to stay with his parents. His sister, the first to find out about his HIV had even told Fadil's friends about it, causing his friends to stay away from him now. Actually his sister's main intention was to make him stay with his parents, but still…

So continuing as make-up artist in KL is out of the question for the time being. Since he can cook, the plan is for him to help out another sister & her husband to cook at their food stall. They were supposed to start last week, but for some reasons, it was postponed until further notice. Told him to inform me once they start business so I can go try his cooking.

Since our Family Day is coming soon, I asked Fadil if he'd like to join us. Fadil said he was interested, but "malu lah kak, nanti kot jumpa orang kenal, macam mana?" I told him there was nothing to worry about as most of those attending would be those "in the same boat" – with the exception of the volunteers of course. In fact I told him we had a few HIV+ volunteers as well and asked if he'd be interested to become one. From my observation, I think he can be a volunteer to help out other HIV+ people.

Fadil did admit though that as chatty as he was, he'd usually feel uncomfortable talking to "jantan tulen". Although Fadil himself looks and dresses up as a guy, he is one of those who can be classified as "lelaki lembut". I told him we do get cases from time to time involving guys like him and that I'd be happy to have him on board as a volunteer. He seemed very interested. "Tapi kerja sukarela tau? Takde gaji," I said. He was still interested… "Elok jugak tu kak, dapat jugak kumpul pahala."

So yes, he has agreed to join us for the Family Day and on that day, after I introduce him to the rest, he should be able to decide if he's still interested to become a volunteer.

When I went to the doctor's room to return Fadil's file, SN asked about Salina's case. Actually Salina's case was referred to another volunteer during last week's clinic duty, and the volunteer did say he'd refer the case to me, but apparently he forgot to inform me about it and so I was unaware about the case until today. When the case was referred last week, Salina, an unwed pregnant girl who just found out about her HIV, just started her medication. She delivered on Sunday. According to SN, Salina was still in the ward, and so I decided to visit her at the ward immediately after my clinic duty. Dr Ker warned me that Salina shared a room with a non-HIV case, so yes, I needed to be a little careful when I talk to Salina.

By 1pm I went over to the maternity ward to see Salina. I just mentioned Buddies and the name of the volunteer she met last week and immediately she opened up. She said she did feel a bit better after speaking to the volunteer last week and she welcomed my visit.

Salina's parents do not know about her pregnancy nor HIV. Since she stopped working early this year, she had been staying with a cousin, who knew about her pregnancy but still doesn't know about her HIV.

Salina however plans to move out and take care of her own baby. The baby? Ah, the new cucu of mine was sound asleep when I went to visit. Let's just call him Ahmad Albab ok? :)

According to Salina, she and her boyfriend (according to her not Ahmad Albab's biological dad) plans to get married, probably after her confinement. Although the boyfriend (she refers him as her "bakal suami", not boyfriend) is negative, according to Salina, he still accepts her and willing to take care of both her and the baby.

Well, it was just my first meet with Salina, and I didn't get to meet her "bakal suami", but Salina gladly gave me her phone number and stored my number as well in her handphone. I will need to follow up and monitor her case to be able to really assess her situation.

And follow up I will, insyaAllah…

For the so-called Obedient Wives Clubs (the now infamous OWC) management, this following excerpt quoted by the Malay Mail is, I think, one such moment.

"When we said that husbands should treat their wives like first-class prostitutes, we were not putting wives on the same level with prostitutes. We are talking about first-class elite types, not street hooker types."

Goodness gracious. Golly ghee whizz.

Downright degrading words - Prostitutes, street hooker types and a first-class elite types.

Were they said in a single breath, I wonder?

My hope is that it was a statement loosely translated from Bahasa Melayu but I have my doubts.

Seriously, though, maybe it's just a ploy by OWC to get some prominence in the printed pages and online.

Ditamas director Shamsudin: Charge dropped. Now a prosecution witness

Key prosecution witness Ditamas Sdn Bhd director Shamsudin Hayroni is set to testify against former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo in the second day of the Umno leader's corruption trial today.

Shamsudin (left) who was was jointly charged with Khir with alleged bribery in a transaction involving two plots of land in Section 7, Shah Alam, under Section 165 of the Penal Code last December, will take the stand at 2.30pm when the court resumes after lunch, as the second witness in the trial.

However, the charge against him was mysteriously dropped on Monday, during the first day of the trial and his presence as a witness now may be an indication that he had managed to plea bargain for immunity from prosecution for his willingness to testify.

The first prosecution witness to testify this morning was property developer Syarikat Permodalan Kebangsaan Bhd's chief executive, Saiful Azmir Shahabuddin who verified that the properties - which included a bungalow, two plots of land as well as furnishings and fixtures - were was sold for RM6.5 million to Shamsudin's company Ditamas.

Saiful was the owner of the properties prior to these being sold to Ditamas, and subsequently to Khir.

Relay For Life @ Malacca

Thanks to Yasmin for inviting me to partake in the Celebrity Lap in the recent Relay for Life event.

"Relay For Life is an over-night event,
celebrating the lives of cancer survivors
as well as to remember the lives of loved ones who have lost the battle.
It is a high-spirited event where everyone in the community can join in the fight against cancer.

It is a day filled with fun, comradeship and festivities.
A time when people you know and people you don't know team up to raise public awareness about cancer in the community.
Throughout the duration of the event, individuals, survivors, teams, companies, and schools will take turns to walk the track to relay the message of cancer.
Non-stop. From dusk till dawn."

A big group of us were gathered at 3pm last Sat to leave for Malacca,
where we'd walk a lap in the relay and collect money whereupon every sen goes to the National Cancer Society.
The singers like Jacyln Victor, Vince Chong and Elvira Arul performed on stage.

Thanks to Aeroline for sponsoring our bus trip down!
They even took orders for Milo and coffee, and served us food.

We each decorated our Luminaria paperbags which were to be lit up that night.
Okay, i did mine under the pressure of the Chong sisters in the bus -_-

It was a looooong ride to Malacca cos the highway was jammed,
think we took almost 4 hours!

before heading straight to the stadium.

The plan was to meet Jerome Bouchaud, translator of Lovers and Strangers Revisited into Trois autres Malaisie and author of Malaisie - Modernité et Traditions en Asie du Sud-Est, at The Junk at 7pm. According to Lonely Planet "A long-time favourite with visitors and Malaysian celebrities—whose pictures line the staircase—Junk offers superb sophisticated Western food with Italian bias amid a collection of endearingly eccentric, well, junk." They should add, "cool" junk, including some collectors items and antiques that will keep you mesmerized as you wonder about the premises, both upstairs and down, along with generous portions of great food. I thought Jerome would like the place, just in case we ran out of things to talk about, not that I should have been worried.

After arriving early to beat the traffic, I was dismayed to find The Junk closed on Tuesdays. At a loss, I texted Jerome and suggested Khatulistiwa Café on the waterfront, a relaxing, open-aired venue, a great place for watching people as they stroll along the waterfront, also a safe first-meeting place that's easy to find. I still meet there regularly with Borneo Tom.

Jerome, who I just blogged about two days ago Gearing Up for the French and was in Kuching to update a French travel guidebook (not his own, but another that he contributes to), had one advantage over me, he knew what I looked like from my book, website and blog, while I had no clue, other than hearing for the first time that morning a cheerful sounding voice. He turned out to be tall and handsome—no doubt excellent qualities for translating—with a cheerful disposition, alert eyes, and a quick sense of humor. I liked him right away.

From the moment we shook hands to nearly four hours later, we spoke in a rapid fire conversation, pausing to eat our respective though different beef noodle soups, as we exchanged writing and marketing ideas, our writing experiences, and how we both came to be writing in Malaysia.

He also told me how he stumbled upon my website/blog, while actively looking for expat writers in Malaysia (which he also did while living four years in China). He then recommended Lovers and Strangers Revisited to Editions GOPE, who had contacted him via a mutual friend, looking for an expat writer in Malaysia for their new Asian series of books, that I blogged about in February, after the deal was confirmed and contracts signed.

By the time we departed, both of our heads were spinning with ideas, after tossing back and forth viable and rather helpful suggestions, seeing the potential. This is what every writer needs, especially those expats in far-flung locations like Borneo (me) and Langkawi (him), a kindred spirit with similar writing goals who is putting himself out there, walking the talk and producing books. Yeah, we're far from famous, but we both know that if we keep at it and keep producing good books, success will be there.

Plus now we share a similar fate, having joined forces to take my Lovers and Strangers Revisited and turned it into our Trois autres Malaisie. Yeah, I wrote the original stories, but Jerome translated them to appeal to a French market, and for that—and for recommending me in the first place—I'm eternally grateful.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — The controversy surrounding Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamed's death could prove to be even more embarrassing than the death of a DAP aide almost two years ago, with his family questioning the police's motives for an inquest.

The senior Customs officer's family oppose an inquest and demand police reveal their investigation findings. They believe there is a cover-up, a claim which has been equally pursued relentlessly by fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

Raja Petra, in several blog postings on his Malaysia Today website, has claimed that Ahmad Sarbaini's assets and financial status was checked and cleared by the police.

He's accused the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of trying to tarnish Ahmad Sarbaini's name following his death.

"The family is now confused and do not know what to do...the family is less agreeable for an inquest because it seems like an attempt to delay the case. The family insists that the police reveal the results of the investigation before taking any further action," said a source close to the family of the deceased.

The source told The Malaysian Insider that Ahmad Sarbaini's family also did not want the same fate as Teoh Beng Hock's inquest, with years passing and the case still being investigated via the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI).

"What will happen if there is an inquest? Will there be other witnesses or proof? Reveal this immediately, do not keep quiet like you are hiding something," the source added.

Sarbaini, 56, was found dead on the badminton court of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building on Jalan Cochrane on April 6 at about 10.20am, barely two hours after walking in.

His death, which occurred while the Teoh Beng Hock RCI was still ongoing, came as a huge blow to the anti-graft body's already battered credibility.

Teoh, a DAP aide, fell to his death at the then-Selangor MACC office on July 16, 2009. An 18-month inquest returned an open verdict, ruling out both suicide and homicide in Teoh's death.

The police have recommended an inquest be held for Ahmad Sarbaini (picture, right), and the Attorney-General has agreed to the idea. Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers have criticised the idea, citing Teoh's case as reason to back their doubts.

"At last we have no choice but to rely on politicians to demand justic for Ahmad Sarbaini," said the family source.

Meanwhile Raja Petra, in his latest posting today alleged that the police had conducted a thorough check on Ahmad Sarbaini's assets and found no "unusual or extraordinary" wealth.

"He (Ahmad Sarbaini) had only three modest cars — a Perodua Kancil, a second-hand Honda CRV and a Proton Persona — and a Modenas Kriss bike, which he rode to the MACC office on that unfortunate morning of 6th April, the day of his death.

"He owned an apartment in Bukit Tinggi, Klang (RM65,872), an apartment in Puncak Alam (RM68,988), a Semi-D cluster house in Saujana Impian in Sungai Buloh (RM230,000) and RM35,000 in savings in Amanah Saham Bumiputra...All these were duly accounted for," said the popular blogger.

I'm so healthy I eat flowers

Royal Thai cuisine (can't remember the name, it's either khao san, mung bean, thaithai etc I speaketh no thai). Apparently the Thai King goes there for dinners occasionally when he was still healthy! :D My favourite was the Pad Thai (so so good, not pictured tho) and the long bean dish with salted egg. The chilli was jizzzzzzzzz, I could just finish the whole plate (minus 95% of the salted egg) without any rice, like that, it was THAT good. NOM.

Fried flowers!!! hahahaha I'm so healthy I eat flowers, what's next? Alfafa sprouts? (I kinda like alfafa sprouts don't laugh) It's basically edible flowers dipped in batter and deep fried. Just the fact that you're eating FLOWERS excites you, that's all. Other than that it's just 2 tbs of oil in every flower you're consuming. =( Too oily for my liking! The last dish looks like some yam basket but it's actually shredded fish meat deep fried till reallly crispy, and you eat with the kerabu salad at the side. NOMNOM!!!! Thai chillies are the BOMB! I had so much chilli that everytime I pass motion my ass hurts like, well, hurts a lot. hahahahaa And the milk tea ain't helping a lot either. =( But really, I think I overeat during the trip (you can verify that with my sister and my mom, they'll just give you THE nod lol)

HAHAHAH SUZIE WONG!!!!!! hahahahaha

and they were selling these marinated pork, which is then grilled in front of you. They smell like "lu rou" and I wanted to buy one right after dinner (yes that's how greedy I was, one meal after another).

And I ended my night with a packet of fries from Maccas, and I think they misheard my order for CHEESY FRIES. Did you hear that? They have CHEESY FRIES in MCDONALD'S THAILAND. I had another 1 pack the next day, and stole some of Wen's the day after. >.> So good. Yeah that pretty sums my Bangkok trip hahaha. Hence the 2kg gain (and prolly 2 full kgs of fats MEH!)

One of the many things my former boss DF and I have in common is our appreciation for good food. From time to time, we would meet up over a good meal or a cup of coffee. I recently joined him and a few friends for a makan outing in Bentong. Yup, we drove all the way to Bukit Tinggi, Bentong just to have lunch. According to DF, there's this sang har tang hoon place that I simply must try. That place was Restoran Hong Hing.

Bentong is a pretty small town about 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur. I've only been there two to three times, when my parents stopped by for fresh vegetables and fruits on our way back from Maran and when rif and I had a satisfying lunch at Kedai Kopi Kok Hing last year.

Service was fairly quick as we got there before the lunch crowd came in. An elderly man took our order and within 10 minutes, our first dish arrived. Between the four of us, we had a steamed patin fish (RM54 for 900gm), crispy pork bacon (RM12), stir-fried sweet potato leaves and the highlight of our meal, sang har tang hoon soup (RM72 for two prawns).

The bacon was deep-fried, tossed with onions and drizzled with honey and soy sauce. "This is good stuff!" I remarked, in between bites. So good, yet so bad for the heart and waistline. Throw in a handful of pork lard and I may need an angioplasty sooner than I think.

Sweet potato leaves may be easy to find at the market, but it isn't as easy to cook. Cook it too long and you get a pile of mush. When it's undercooked, your jaw gets a good workout. But the chef at Hong Hing got it right — the leaves were fragrant from the garlic chunks, tender at the stems and lightly seasoned with salt.

I usually avoid eating fish when there's no price indication in the menu. But at Hong Hing, the price is stated clearly on the wall, albeit in Chinese. Steamed with julienned ginger, soy sauce and dashes of Chinese rice wine, the fish was fresh, sweet and smooth with a tiny layer of fat. We ate the fish clean, except the bones, tail, and eyeballs.

The sang har tang hoon soup came in a large claypot to keep it hot. For RM72, I found it a tad steep but DF said the pricing was pretty standard. I liked the addition of chilli padi and ginger, which gave the dish a fiery kick. However, the Chinese in me thought the broth could have done with more rice wine, or better still, XO. The more 'kao', the better, don't you agree? That said, the prawns were crunchy and gave the broth a delicious sweet flavour.

Piping hot bowl of goodness!

Lunch came up to RM146 for the four of us. Not exactly cheap, but definitely value for money considering the type of dishes we ordered. Restoran Hong Hing used to be at MTD Prime in Genting Sempah; it relocated to Bukit Tinggi late last year. To get there, just drive all the way down from the Bukit Tinggi market. The shop is on your right hand side.

Ambiance: 5/10

Food: 6.5/10 (non-halal)
Verdict: Simple, fresh food and good value for money.

Entah apa yang special nya pun saya tak tahu..Char Kuey Teow nya sikit, ada telur, udang ada empat ketul itupun tak fresh. RM6.00 untuk Char Kuey Teow macam tu ? Rasa nak bagi pelempang maut je kat peniaga tu...

Tak cukup hampa dengan Char Kuey Teow mahal tu, servis layanan di kedai makan Taman Warisan Pertanian tu agak hambar. Memang lah dah terpampang jelas " Layan Diri ", tapi bila nak beli makanan , pelanggan disambut macam bo-layan jer. Muka peniaga semua macam ngantuk dan malas jer...Mak ayah saya yang order satey pun dapat satey sejuk !

Selain daripada makanan yang tak berapa sedap tu, keadaan kat Taman Warisan Pertanian tu agak panas. Kami makan dalam keadaan mandi "sauna"...Huhu...

Dining Out @ Bistro a Table, Section 17, Petaling Jaya

We have been haunting this little bistro tucked away in Petaling Jaya ever since it opened last week. Run by private chef Isadora Chai, food here is wholesome and cooked with a lot of heart. Occupying Patrick Teoh's former Music Machine's premises, the place has been done up in a simple yet effective manner - suspended lightbulbs on closer look resemble flowers from below with their draping wires, hanging glass vases, French themed prints, black mosaic tiles and a quirky door frame with their name. Don't also forget the Francophile theme as the inside doors and the front step get a slick of the red, blue and white colours from the French flag.
   Back to food. It's simple with a one page menu for appetisers, mains and desserts that does change accordingly to what's fresh in the market. While it does not rapidly change daily, if you dine here regularly enough you may find some favourites making way for other dishes that Isadora wants to introduce to you. In a way, it's a good thing as she's got quite a wide repertoire of yummy dishes. Do leave room for desserts as they're all divine. Being a good girl, I won't dive into desserts yet but start in a proper manner with appetisers.
   Zoom in on the one-of-the-kind Caesar Salad soup (RM18), Isadora's quirky creation. It's essentially a deconstructed dish - cos salad soup, soft egg hidden behind a wall of sliced toast, duck prosciutto slices, parmesan crisp with a dollop of cream. Simply divine and makes you feel happier to have eaten your greens with a spoon! We also loved the creamy duck liver parfait (RM19) that we hoovered quickly through with our soft and crusty topped baguettes. Equally good is the coddled egg with maple syrup served with an asparagus spear and crouton dust (RM16). For heartier appetites, there's also the seafood (mantis prawn and lobster) bisque topped with a gruyere souffle (RM35).
   We move on the mains (and one step closer to desserts). Splashie Boy loved the gnocchi with burnt butter, tomatoes and zucchini (RM28). The gnocchi has a pillow soft texture that paired well with the fragrant brown butter, while the vegetables helped cut through the richness. A specialty here is the traditional duck cassoulet (RM48) - slow cooked duck for 8 hours with beans. It's a very hearty dish that you will keep spooning down your throat. It can be a teeny weeny bit salty though but I reckon it'll be perfect with a glass of white wine. For decadent palates, go for the slipper lobster and sea urchin tagliatelle (RM119) - a super rich concoction laced with a decadent lobster oil. The second time we dined here, the steak had been changed to a herbed crust lamb rack (RM96) that was cooked perfectly with a red wine sauce on the side and creamy mash potatoes. We had also ordered side dishes: truffled mash (RM12) and steamed French beans with hazelnuts in vinaigrette (RM10).
   Finally we reach desserts, always a high point for me. We love the warm chocolate fondant with its oozing chocolate centre that melds with the vanilla creme anglaise (RM18) that hugs it. My other favourite was the dragonfruit coconut pavlova topped with candied ginger (RM14). The combination of the lightly coconut scented cream with the ginger is perfect with the crunch from the meringue. For a very rich end to your meal, you have two choices of tiramisu - an alcohol drenched one (RM29) or the deconstructed version (RM18) that is extremely chocolate-ly. Oh and don't forget one of my personal favourites, the kaffir lime and lemon tart (RM15, one of the best citrus themed tarts in town with a slightly soft centre.
   The place is still very very new and feeling their way around. There's also plans to introduce a degustation menu. Do pop by and get a feel of the place and try the food. You'll find a friendly cosy place that reminds one of dining overseas. For the adventurous, try the long communal table in the middle. Who knows, you may end up chatting with your fellow diners and discover you know each other.

HONG KONG, June 7 — First a golden ladle is laid on its own gleaming stand. The steaming dish is brought out from the kitchen and a dedicated waitress decants it into individual bowls, without spilling so much as a drop of the precious liquid. For the Chinese diners in a specialist Hong Kong restaurant, smiling with anticipation, it is the highlight and centrepiece of the meal, but for environmentalist critics it is one of the worst foods in the world — shark's fin soup. "It's full of nutrition," said Lisa Lau, a housewife, who was marking her birthday with friends. "In Chinese culture, when a family go out to eat together or when we treat friends we will eat something good. If we want to order something good, most times we will order shark fin." To a Western palate, it is nothing special, a slightly chewy morsel devoid of a flavour of its own, and benefiting from the vinegary dressing served alongside. But for the Cantonese who consume it, shark's fin has an appeal that is all its own — a culinary experience in which taste is among the less important factors. Being seen to be eating it, said Lau, gives "face", the all-important Chinese concept of status and social standing, while hosts offering it to guests demonstrate their wealth. "Because shark fin is expensive, when you serve shark's fin at a party, the party will be better."

Bigger is better, so that dorsal fins are preferred to ventral or pectoral — although retailers say the tail also commands a premium. Fibre width varies by species, with thicker ones, such as from tiger sharks, denoting higher — and more costly — quality. Tam Kwok King, the manager of the Fung Shing restaurant in Kowloon, has worked in the trade for more than 50 years. The establishment is renowned as one where diners can order shark's fin soup on the spot rather than in advance, and gets through around 200 kilograms of fins a week. An individual serving of soup includes about 30 grams of fin, and a 12-person bowl sells for HK$1,080 (RM420). "When holding a party, it is not respectful if you don't treat the guests to shark's fin soup. You will feel you lose face," he said. "From the view of traditional Chinese medical science, drinking shark fin soup can strengthen the body and improve health. It is good for the bones. "The most important thing is that the soup must be cooked well. It takes time to stew the shark fin. If you do not cook it for long enough, the shark fin is not delicious and it does not look very good." In the kitchen, the dry fins are first soaked for hours, developing a rubbery appearance, before being flash-fried with assorted spices and condiments on one of five giant burners. The soup — which includes other ingredients such as chicken for flavour — is then assembled and cooked in an oven for four hours, by which time the fins are soft, translucent, and reduced to a fraction of their original size. Environmentalists object to shark finning as cruel and wasteful on the grounds that the fins are often cut from live sharks which are then dumped back into the sea to die. They also say it is leading to a rapid decline in shark populations, pointing out that as apex predators they have a vital role in the marine ecosystem. Silvy Pun, of the conservation group WWF in Hong Kong, said: "Most of my friends think that it is just once-in-a-while that we have shark fin soup, there shouldn't be a big problem. "However, our occasional consumption fuels a lot of boats to hunt shark all over the world. We are consuming 2-5 per cent of a shark which takes an average 10 years to reach maturity. "Sharks do not have enough time to grow and replenish themselves." But Veronica Mak, an anthropologist at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said that shark's fin soup has a vital cultural role, pointing out that as well as the ingredient being expensive, the preparation is highly skilled. "We have a popular saying in Cantonese that a banquet is legitimated by a dish of shark's fin'," she said. "Important banquets, like weddings, which people hopefully have only once in their life, usually include shark's fin. This is especially important for the middle or even lower class, to show face' to the relatives. "There is a big difference in price for a banquet with and without shark's fin, so serving shark's fins to your business partners or relatives or friends shows off your economic and cultural capital at the same time." The demand is such that Hong Kong is the global focus of the shark fin trade, with the WWF estimating that between 44 and 59 per cent of the world's fin catch passes through the territory. According to Hong Kong government figures for 2009, the most recent available, that came to more than 9,000 tonnes with a value of HK$1.9 billion at wholesale prices — around HK$200 per kilogram. Retail is another story. The centre of the shark fin business on the island is Des Voeux Road West, where shops are packed with assorted dried foods from sea and land. The largest is Wing Yue Marine Food, where large presentation shark fins for gifts, with the skin still attached, sell for HK$12,800 per catty, a local measure of weight equivalent to 604 grammes, and basic cooking fins can cost more than HK$6,000 per catty. Kelvin Wong, the owner, dresses in jeans, a polo shirt, and a jewel-encrusted Rolex. With the Chinese economy booming, he says he is seeing growing demand from mainland China and dismisses the concerns of environmentalists. "Western people may not understand what shark's fin means to Chinese culture," he said. "People shouldn't criticise other people because they eat something Western people don't eat." Nonetheless there are signs that attitudes are changing among Hong Kong's urban younger generation. She On Kuen, who has a small store in a back street, has been selling fins for decades and says that nowadays "for weddings young people choose not to eat it" for environmental reasons. He does not subscribe to such sentiments. "We human beings have to control the number of sharks as they are dangerous," he said. "Westerners object to the consumption of shark fins only because it is inhumane. But sharks are inhumane too when they bite." — AFP-Relaxnews

Stop Making Excuses

Since the day I 'shot' him in our MSN chat, he has been calling me every night to talk to me for at least 2-3 hours and there were a few times when we talk until either one of our phone's battery gone low and the line just went dead. When this happens, he would recharge his phone and call back again to continue our conversation.

He said he wants to take me to his place, cook me lunch or dinner, spend time together to know each other more but each time we made a plan to meet, on that day of meeting, he would send me SMS telling he got something up, either the contractor is coming to fix his windows, or he has to go to his aunt's house for dinner, take her out, or he has to attend 2-hour of gym workout or his trademark line is that he's tired and he took a nap.

I feel like shouting STOP MAKING EXCUSES at him. Each time I tell him how disappointed I am due to his insensitive action and empty promises, he would just apologize with "I'm sorry for disappointing you. I don't know what to say. I promise I will make it up to you."

I have heard enough! He kept saying how he would love to meet me in person, how he wants to spend quality time with me to know me more, how he wants to cook lunch and dinner for me at his place but each time when we make a plan and set the day and time, he would just send me an SMS in the early morning telling me he can't make it and the date has to be cancelled.

Wait! He didn't even say it has be to cancelled. He would just say, "Let's see how." and then you will never hear anything from him for the whole day or even tomorrow. It's as if he has totally forgotten about it and go on with his life as usual.

How are we going to progress to the next level if we don't meet? I simply can't like someone whom I haven't met before. Can you? At the moment, I am going to put him at the back of the list. So, I guess this would probably be the last post about Mr. J.

I suspect he must have this book.

Work, my POV.

Since the new job (which is not so new anymore), the whole 'rollercoaster' effect of living this life hasn't stopped at all. The list of to-do's on my working task list seems to constantly expand, and everytime I tick 'complete' on one task, another three seem to miraculously appear at the bottom.

My husband says that this is great, because he feels that everytime you get a new job, it should always offer additional challenge, or else you'll very quickly get stagnant, and feel bored. He also doesn't think I'm all cut out for the tai-tai life, not yet anyway, because, in his words, 'You're the type who has got to work.'

I'm not denying that, but I'm not discounting the possibility of one day, taking a more laid-back position, potentially working out a flexible hour working arrangement; or going wholly independent. I do agree that at this point in my life, I am very lucky two have two very supportive and willing mothers. Both have encouraged me to pursue my career 'while you're still young'.

Occasionally I look back on my career journey and wonder how I landed where I am now. I am unabashedly spiritual these days, and it is partially because of God's clear presence in guiding my career choices so far. I won't ever forget that day, six years back, when in a dead-end boring position as a Content Writer, I said a prayer asking God for 'work that gives meaning', and God answered me with the opportunity to try out Public Relations with one of the biggest conglomerates in the country. Within three days! I stayed there for 3 years until I got sick of it, and then just before getting married, I asked for God to give me a break, and he did gave me a break. I was jobless for over six months and had the pleasure of experiencing the Tai-Tai life just immediately after my wedding. Quite frankly it was a disastrous experience, by the fourth month I was bored witless, and decided to try out freelancing as a corporate trainer while seeking another job.

At that point I recalled asking God for some full-time work and something that will keep me busy, and he parked me in a traditional Chinese property development company. It kept me busy, but after a while, I felt quite unchallenged – to be frank, doing PR for property development gets a bit monotonous after a while, there is a certain predictable formula to managing communications for the property sector. So in the midst of all that, I again prayed, for a job with real challenges, and actual meaning, a chance to learn and contribute to society, and lo-and-behold, I landed myself HERE. Hah.

Don't get me wrong. I'm really happy that I've been given this opportunity to serve the nation here. It's the toughest job I've ever had though, and sometimes I really feel like I'm sinking. But always I remember, there's nothing too hard in life I can't handle, because God has proven that He is very capable of pushing me to the brink and challenge me in life. Also because I asked for 'real challenge', and He's just answering my prayer, you see. Of course I also realize that, I have to be VERY VERY careful whenever I pray for something, because God always answers prayers, not always in the way I like it, but yes, He will answer prayers.

So anyway, what more can I say. Thank You God, yes, I feel you loud and near. Just don't let me fall yah!

Japchae (Chap Chae) pictures (1 of 4)

Back Japchae (also spelled as chap chae) is the first Korean dish I tried. Believe it or not, before I came to the United States, I had never had Korean food. Growing up in Malaysia with all its glorious local cuisines and family's home cooking, I seldom tried other cuisines…plus there weren't many international restaurants back then. I first had Japchae when I lived in San Francisco. I fell in love with the springy and slightly chewy texture of the japchae noodle, which is made from sweet potato. Korean food was new to me, the taste—especially the dishes with lots of heat—reminded me of Malaysian cuisine, but it's completely different and interesting… Korean cooking is currently high on my priority list. Even though I enjoy Korean food tremendously, I am a novice but I have been cooking a lot of Korean dishes lately. Please stay tuned as I am going to expand the Korean Recipes category with kimchi fried rice, Korean pancakes, bulgogi, and more. Anyway, here is my japchae (chap chae) recipe, which is easy and takes only 30 minutes to prepare. Enjoy!

Japchae (Chap Chae) Recipe
Adapted from The Steamy Kitchen Cookbook & The Korean Table
Serves 2 Ingredients: 8 oz noodles
4 oz spinach
1 1/2 tablespoons oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
3-4 dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked in warm water, stem removed and sliced
1 small carrot, cut into thin strips
1 stalk scallion, cut into 1-inch lengths
1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
Salt to taste
1 heaping teaspoon toasted white sesame Sauce: 4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar Method: Cook the sweet potato noodles in a large pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain the water and rinse the noodles under cold running water. Cut the noodles using a pair of scissors into about 6-inch lengths. Set aside. Heat up a pot of water and bring it to boil. Blanch the spinach until they are wilted, about 1 minute. Drain the water and rinse the spinach under cold running water. Form the spinach into a ball and squeeze it to discard the remaining water. Cut the spinach ball into half. Heat up the oil in a skillet or wok and add the garlic, onion, mushroom, and carrot and cook for about two minutes. Add the scallion and stir-fry for another minute. Turn the heat to low and add the noodles and spinach into the skillet or wok, follow by the sesame oil, the Sauce, and salt to taste. Stir to combine well. Dish out, sprinkle with the sesame seeds, and served at room temperature. Cook's Notes:

Penang CPO, the new political advisor, tells politicians not to divide people

Penang police chief Ayub Yaakob has urged politicians to stop dividing the people in delivery of community policing services, saying these should be open to all regardless of political affiliation.

He noted that certain quarters are trying to undermine the service by preventing members of political parties other than their own to join the teams and told Malaysiakini, "Everyone should be treated equally. In a residential area, there are all kinds of people, some from Umno and others from DAP."

Several community policing teams have been set up, for example, in Bayan Baru and Paya Terubongg where such initiatives are usually spearheaded by the state assembly representative.

Ayub himself has welcomed public support and participation in the move and has attributed the drop in the state's crime index rate by 27.1 percent last year to these efforts but he has advised politicians, as elected representatives, to treat all constituents equally, saying, ... They stand or contest under their political banner during elections. (When) they win, they have to serve everyone equally in their constituency, not just members of their political parties...They have to be a YB for all and not merely act for their own voters."

This guy sounds so unbelievably genuine! ;)

Oversold, quite bearish

It's about time I do a bit of justice to my readers by posting stock market related write up.

It's has been a while I did not visit bespoke website, finally I did and found this chart. It's quite interesting actually.

Industrials, financials, materials and technology are in oversold territory. The market is clearly taking money off the table because they think the economic slow down is here and more to come. The market is certainly pricing in a slow down in 2H 2011. Oversold may warrant some rebound but the bigger question is: are we going to see a recession again? My take is not yet because you don't raise interest rate when the whole world say we have a weak economy.

What should we do? We all need to sit and wait until the market is tired of the word slow down, then I think we are going to see S & P of 1,350 - 1,400 or Dow 13,9000 or KLCI 1,700. When, probably end of 2011.

Shell Shedding Peanuts

Despite my disgust of the current entity that is Umno, its member Nur Jazlan Mohamed has earned my admiration and wholesome support.

The Pulai Member of Parliament and eldest son of the late Tok Mat hinted his integrity and mettle by quitting his post as TM's audit committee chairman after the irregularities were found but was not investigated.

His latest interview in the Edge on both the so-called Bumiputera (or should this be Malay) Agenda and UDA Holding's plans for its Pudu Jail landbank is both frank and hard hitting.

Reading the two articles in whole is a welcomed breath of fresh air in a country stinking of rotten rhetoric and racial chauvinistic statements, especially when taken in the context that Nur Jazlan was also taking about advancing a much maligned idea of a community's re-engineering.

There was no denying what needs to be done to propel the Bumiputera agenda further, according to Nur Jazlan.

"We have to have a format or formula on how to define this cost of the bumiputera agenda. If it is going to be the government giving money all the time, think again….. We don't want to leave the next generation with debts."

It has been something like 40 years since the so-called Bumiputera Agenda came to the forefront with the NEP.

Has the community's economic standing been advanced all this while?

A burgeoning middle-upper class Bumiputeras group aside, the trickling down of the distributed wealth courtesy of the Bumiputera Agenda policies is exactly in such a state: TRICKLING.

The bulk of this wealth goes god knows where.

We have our suspicions, of course.

In fact, there is actually another Umno member whom I, urm, agree (not always) with - Blogger SakMongkol AK47.

SakMongkol, you see, has equally been hard hitting in his assessment of his party's current ways of doing things though his words (posts) has basically fallen on deaf ears.

I've always asked him this question: "Why are you still there?"

Datuk Sak has his reasons, I suppose.

What of Nur Jazlan?

Kacang lupakan kulit; will say his detractors. Would he be where he is now had he not been Tok Mat's son and a party member, they will decry.

It will be interesting to see what happens next and if the Finance Ministry would accept UDA's so-called Bumiputera-interest's sidelining proposal.

I doubt so going by the MRT JV criteria's fiasco.

One way or the other, pockets just simply need (side)lining.

I was randomly stalking people on facebook, and stumble across this girl, who posted a picture of her outfit, captioned "I look fat".

After being through about 10-12 years of being fat, really? Looking into mirrors are the hardest thing to do, thinking how those jeans would fit on my 42 inch hips, complete with muffin top and love handles. Looking into the mirror was never the easiest thing to do, at least for me. And that I would try to avoid mirrors if I can, or maybe if the mirror happen to make me look good, then maybe yes.

That brings to me point of, I still do NOT get, why people often post pictures of themselves captioned, I look fat. So here's a fat photo of myself?

Seriously?

I feel fat, I don't put pictures of myself man. Why would I want people to look at my worst when I probably might have some other "thin" looking pictures? And when people pinch their tummy saying they're fat, with what 2mm of skin (not even flesh, see how hard they try to prove they're fat?), I cringe. You haven't seen ***MY*** love handles baby.

Is it fun to make people feel inferior towards how you look or whatever it is? You think it's necessary? SOOOO many times I've heard people talking behind my back about my appearance (Yes you, I know about it? You know who I'm talking about? YES YOU!) and can't you just leave me alone? Fat, skinny, tall, ugly, pretty, why do we put labels on everything? Is it because putting a label differentiates you from someone else? Does putting a beautiful sign on you differentiate you from other normal human being? You are still human, you still eat, shit, pee, sleep and maybe fuck. Your body might not even function as nicely as the human who wasn't labelled beautiful.

If fishing for compliments is your forte, I'd say go for it. Because what I think is that posting a picture of myself which I consider "fat" to compliments is just, unnecessary.

For example,

Exhibit A, I post a picture of myself and I caption it "I look so fat".

Respondent 1: "Err, so what should I tell her?? Yeah you really do look fat? But that doesn't sound nice? So should I write something like "oh no you look great".

Conclusion: Mission succeeded. You've officially fished for a compliment.

Respondent 2: Maybe in a joking manner but she replied "yeah maybe it's time to lose those muffin tops"

Conclusion: you'll end up hurting yourself more, and be all offended and try to defend yourself by saying like OHH yea have been eating a lot lately I blame this this this this hahaha and end with the world's most awkward laugh.

I hope you get my point.

I am just happy that now that I'm more open about myself and my feelings/pet peeves, I am more comfortable with myself, in a way a lot more confident that who I was back then, and as compared to who I am now? I'm very happy for myself. Be it the courage or the strength that I've gained (woots kiss ma guns!!!). As long as I feel that I'm healthier and I'm passionate about the things that I'm doing, good things will come my way.

Be it a bad day, always hold a positive thought in your mind. That's my current motto of life. The previous weekend was hella whirlwind with 2 pre-love parties back-to-back and a car accident, visits to the police station and whatever shit, a new week has commenced and I always anticipate what life will bring next? (hopefully fingers crossed not another accident *touch wood* CHOIII)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — A former senior government official has said that the country's bloated and overwhelmingly Malay civil service was "completely loyal to Umno" and was the main stumbling block towards economic reforms, according to a leaked United States diplomatic cable.

The confidential report sent to Washington from the US embassy here was leaked by whistleblower website WikiLeaks and published in the Malaysia Today news portal today.

According to the cable, former Economic Planning Unit (EPU) deputy director general Datuk K. Govindan said the civil service has a "narrow worldview" and believed that affirmative action reforms will erode the Malay community's interests.

"Govindan sees Malaysia's huge and largely ethnic Malay civil service, completely loyal to Umno, but increasingly incompetent, as PM Najib's largest obstacle.

"He commented that the civil service has a very narrow worldview and will oppose, even refuse to implement, reforms perceived as damaging ethnic Malay interests, even if convinced of the long-run gains for Malaysia," it said.

Govindan also continued to say that although Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was sincere in implementing necessary structural reforms, certain Cabinet ministers were against the New Economic Model (NEM).

"K. Govindan, who briefs PM Najib and the Cabinet weekly on Malaysian economic performance and economic policy, told us he believes PM Najib understands in general terms the reforms needed to improve human capital and productivity, increase trade and investment, and reduce corruption.

"Nevertheless, Govindan said he does not make specific economic policy recommendations at those meetings for fear of offending other ministers in the meeting who oppose the reform agenda," said the cable.

It also quoted Govindan as saying that politics continue to plague the country's economy and education system.

"Govindan agreed that major structural changes are needed for sustained economic growth. He added that a series of small reform programs will eventually limit Malaysia to an unacceptably low three to four per cent annual growth rate that will keep the country trapped in middle income status until politics are removed from education and the economy," the cable added.

Govindan was appointed as group deputy chief executive officer for RAM Holdings Bhd in April this year.

Malaysia is said to have the highest civil servants-to-population ratio in the Asia Pacific at 4.68 per cent, topping Indonesia's 1.79 per cent, South Korea's 1.85 per cent and Thailand's 2.06 per cent.

Najib has embarked on an effort to sell his NEM to sceptical Malay voters, arguing that a new direction is needed to pull the ailing economy out of its middle-income trap by freeing the market of the crippling Malay largesse.

Think and Grow Rich, Six Fears to Ovecome, and Self Analysis

In Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich, he devotes an entire chapter on "The Six Ghosts of Fears"; it's his second longest chapter (out of fifteen) and he saves it for last. He lists Six Basic Fears:

The fear of poverty

The fear of criticism

The fear of ill health

The fear of loss of love of someone

The fear of old age

The fear of death

Under "The Most Destructive Fear" he writes:

Fear of poverty is a state of mind, nothing else! But it is sufficient to destroy one's chances of achievement in any undertaking, a truth which became painfully evident during the depression.

This fear paralyzes the faculty of reason, destroys the faculty of imagination, kills off self-reliance, undermines enthusiasm, discourages initiative, leads to uncertainty of purpose, encourages procrastination, wipes out enthusiasm and makes self-control an impossibility. It takes the charm from one's personality, destroys the possibility of accurate thinking, diverts concentration of effort, it masters persistence, turns the will-power into nothingness, destroys ambition, beclouds the memory and invites failure in every conceivable form; it kills love and assassinates the finer emotions of the heart, discourages friendship and invites disaster in a hundred forms, leads to sleeplessness, misery and unhappiness-and all this despite the obvious truth that we live in a world of over-abundance of everything the heart could desire, with nothing standing between us and our desires, excepting lack of a definite purpose.

That's a lot, and that's just one fear. (It seems an awful lot of this fear is circulating around the US the last couple of years, a panic of how bad things are and how worse it's going to get, as if its never going to end.) By the way, it was Napoleon Hill who gave FDR the Great Depression-slogan: The Only Thing We Have to Fear, is Fear Itself. To combat these fears, Hill recommends that "Self-analysis may disclose weaknesses which one does not like to acknowledge. This form of examination is essential to all who demand of life more than mediocrity and poverty."

He adds:

Without doubt, the most common weakness of all human beings is the habit of leaving their minds open to the negative influence of other people. This weakness is all the more damaging, because most people do not recognize that they are cursed by it, and many who acknowledge it, neglect or refuse to correct the evil until it becomes an uncontrollable part of their daily habits.

News stories, newspapers, and the Internet are chock full of negative influences about what's all wrong with the world today (including all that crime, celebrity and political meltdowns, and how innocent people like you and me are wronged, instilling the fear that you might be next, so beware!)

To aid those who wish to see themselves as they really are, the following list of questions has been prepared. Read the questions and state your answers aloud, so you can hear your own voice. This will make it easier for you to be truthful with yourself.

Having read Think and Grow Rich for the third time, and after finding myself once again procrastinating on a task that I vowed to complete last week (is there a subconscious fear working against me?), I thought it high time that I complete this self-analysis to see what's going on . . . . I'm half way through right now—taking a break since I'm being so brutal on myself, taking full responsibility for all that I'm doing and not doing effectively (I've already written seven, single-spaced pages of answers!).

I'll warn you, it's tough on the ego, but every now and then you need to take stock of yourself, especially if you feel you are holding yourself back (even subconsciously). This way, based on your truthful answers, you'll know exactly how to move forward, and that's exactly what I aim to do. Move forward. Already I'm anxious to get back to the rest of those questions! Are you gaining or losing self-confidence as you grow older?

Do you learn something of value from all mistakes?

Are you permitting some relative or acquaintance to worry you? If so, why?

Are you sometimes "in the clouds" and at other times in the depths of despondency?

Who has the most inspiring influence upon you? What is the cause?

Do you tolerate negative or discouraging influences which you can avoid?

Are you careless of your personal appearance? If so, when and why?

Have you learned how to "drown your troubles" by being too busy to be annoyed by them?

Would you call yourself a "spineless weakling" if you permitted others to do your thinking for you?

Have you a method by which you can shield yourself against the negative influence of others?

Do you make deliberate use of auto-suggestion to make your mind positive?

Which do you value most, your material possessions, or your privilege of controlling your own thoughts?

Are you easily influenced by others, against your own judgment?

Has today added anything of value to your stock of knowledge or state of mind?

Do you face squarely the circumstances which make you unhappy, or sidestep the responsibility?

Do you analyze all mistakes and failures and try to profit by them or, do you take the attitude that this is not your duty?

Can you name three of your most damaging weaknesses?

What are you doing to correct them?

Do you encourage other people to bring their worries to you for sympathy?

Do you choose, from your daily experiences, lessons or influences which aid in your personal advancement?

Does your presence have a negative influence on other people as a rule?

What habits of other people annoy you most?

Do you form your own opinions or permit yourself to be influenced by other people?

Have you learned how to create a mental state of mind with which you can shield yourself against all discouraging influences?

Does your occupation inspire you with faith and hope?

Are you conscious of possessing spiritual forces of sufficient power to enable you to keep your mind free from all forms of FEAR?

Does your religion help you to keep your own mind positive?

Do you feel it your duty to share other people's worries? If so, why?

If you believe that "birds of a feather flock together" what have you learned about yourself by studying the friends whom you attract?

By what rules do you judge who is helpful and who is damaging to you?

How much time out of every 24 hours do you devote to:

c. play and relaxation

d. acquiring useful knowledge

e. plain waste

Who among your acquaintances,

a. encourages you most

What is your greatest worry? Why do you tolerate it?

When others offer you free, unsolicited advice, do you accept it without question, or analyze their motive?

What, above all else, do you most DESIRE? Do you intend to acquire it?

Are you willing to subordinate all other desires for this one?

How much time daily do you devote to acquiring it?

Do you change your mind often? If so, why?

Do you usually finish everything you begin?

Are you easily impressed by other people's business or professional titles, college degrees, or wealth?

Are you easily influenced by what other people think or say of you?

Do you cater to people because of their social or financial status?

Whom do you believe to be the greatest person living?

In what respect is this person superior to yourself?

How much time have you devoted to studying and answering these questions? (At least one day is necessary for the analysis and the answering of the entire list.)

Hill then adds:

If you have answered all these questions truthfully, you know more about yourself than the majority of people. Study the questions carefully, come back to them once each week for several months, and be astounded at the amount of additional knowledge of great value to yourself, you will have gained by the simple method of answering the questions truthfully. If you are not certain concerning the answers to some of the questions, seek the counsel of those who know you well, especially those who have no motive in flattering you, and see yourself through their eyes. The experience will be astonishing.

ive been grounded for two days. yes. perintah berkurung. thanks mama for the arahan .i didnt go out from my house n im quite surprised i managed to go through that without bribing my aunty. maybe its my emotional state contributes to that. i felt so uncomfortable n my anger fills my heart, my thoughts , everything. n yes, i decided to just lie down on bed n sleep. dats what i did the whole day yesterday, on bed n sleep. when i suddenly wke up, i will force myself to sleep again. dats how terrible my holiday is yesterday.

sum things in life u just cant handle it. especially, when it comes to other people's action which u wish u can shout at them n said 'come on man, are u for real?' seriously. people dun say stuff, n half of the way, they suddenly gone. even friends dun do that. nak cakap, cakap. kalau tak nak cakap, jangan cakap. u stand for what u believe and go for it. but then again, its people, kan? (while doing this gaya.)

so, today, i decided to do anything that i can do. so, heres the list:

-2 movies in a row

-go to bookxcess

-lunch and dinner outside

Story of Miki – My Gedik Little Climber

At three years old, Miki suddenly likes climbing. All these while, when other kiddoes his age was busy climbing on top of all the furniture they can get their hands on, Miki was a little bit scared of heights. Now however, he has turned completely the other way around. Actually I don't really mind if he wants to climb on the iron door or furniture etc as long as he doesn't break any of his bones and any of my stuff. Especially ANY OF MY STUFF!

But nope! The boy who just got a feel of Tarzanic adrenaline does more than just climb. He climbs and then jumps on people! You know who those people are! They are Azman and me! Especially ME!

Please! I have always suspected that I have osteoporosis ok? A kid of 16 kilos jumping on my body?! Imagine the baby Kung Fu Panda landing on a pack of Rocky Choco Stick.

After an extensive disciplining process Miki has stop using my tummy as a trampoline but the Tarzan inside of him still exist. His latest tricks include fighting ala Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda 1 (Oh have I told you that we are forced to watch the movie about 40 times already? After his Daddy torrent-ed it LAST WEEK?) and climbs to the highest point of the couch and then somersaults down onto the carpet.

I explained to him the repercussion of a broken neck – kids will laugh at your cervical collar and call you MIKI TELENG! YOU WANT?? YOU WANT HUH BOY???? YOU WANT???

He didn't understand neck brace but he got the name calling part very well. Now that he was forbidden to jump on us or dive head first on the carpet. Miki tried to reduce the momentum of his fall by swinging. So once again he would climb on the highest point of the couch, hang on my curtain for support before berguling-guling down onto the floor.

First time, can tahan… Second time, Mummy nasihat… Third time, Mummy ~~scream~~ nasihat lagi… Forth time, my 9 feet langsir hanging on the 12 feet iron rod came tumbling down.

So happy la ko Miki? Now you can strike another item from your things-to-do-before-I-turn-4 list I guess huh? Item no 10- TEARING DOWN THE HOUSE!

Mummy nak pengsan ok!! Nak pengsannnnnn!!

Dah la his mulut is super becok! Yesterday at the park, his Daddy and I waited for him why he was having a jolly good time at the playground. Tired of standing both of sat down on the grass under a tree. Miki stopped on his track on the high platform and shouted to Daddy loudly.

"Hey Daddy! Kenapa Daddy duduk situ? Kat situ takde kerusi! Cuba tengok kat ponggong tu ada tak kerusi?"

Ko ingat ponggong Daddy ko takde deria rasa ke sampai dia tak tahu dia tengah duduk atas apa? *pitam*

But Miki can be soft-spoken too! Guess when… IN FRONT OF A CUTE GIRL! *double pitam* Just now at dinner in the restaurant, there was a little girl about Miki's age eating with her father. By the time we just ordered, the both of them was already done and about to leave. The girl was staring at Miki too and boy wasn't she a beauty… Pig tails, straight fringe down to her brows, large eyes and in a pretty floral dress. Miki terus jadi tersipu-sipu OMGGGGG!!!

"Mana Daddy dia Mummy?" Miki whispered to my ear while stealing glances at the girl and tersengih-sengih kerang busuk. Ehhh boleh pulak cakap dengan lemah lembut penuh kesopanan?

"Tu Daddy dia tengah bayar bill.." I replied and Miki still tergedik-gedik remarked "Kenapa Daddy dia tak duduk?"
Eiiiii tak tahan beating around the bush kekdahnya.. Miki was sorry they were going home already right? You want them to stay longer right?Because you berkenan at the girl right??

Haishhh….

Can't you just stick with me Miki? I am a girl too! LOL

DISAPPOINTED.

Yup, disappointed.

Disclaimer: I'm particular with my desserts so do take my reviews with a pinch of salt & more often than not; you might want to deduct perhaps 30% off the overall rating. Hahaha.

Anyhow, this place has been in my radar for while now. Cakes are always my TOP priority from my "new places or food-to-try list". The list gets longer each day, and some places eventually forgotten; but never for cakes!

So even though the location was inconvenient (all the way in KL) & the venue less than ideal (in a club!) I planned, plotted, scheduled my time with some friends & finally after 2 weeks, stood happily in front of the cakes chiller one hot evening at La Bibliotheque, Avenue K.

There were only 3 cakes available that night; much to my chagrin, but at least we didn't make a trip all the way there to find out that there's only one type of cake available!

Yugamisu. RM14++.
Tiramisu sponge cake brushed with coffee syrup & layered with mascarpone cheese & grated chocolate. Top coated with almond praline.
We barely tasted any alcohol, and the staff here is totally "blank" when we tried to ask about the alcohol content. So we made our own deductions, and I thought I detected some faint coffee liquer. One thing's certain, everyone liked this one cos of the nuts!

Overall? It was a good cake but it's not a good tiramisu.

3 Layer Chocolate Mousse (white, milk & dark). RM14++.
This is basically layers of cream with chocolate sponge. One positive note about the cakes here is that they were all very well balanced in terms of richness & sugar levels.
None were cloyingly sweet, even for this creamy one, since each layer was light & smooth but with ample chocolate flavour.
In any case, I enjoyed the taste of having 3 different chocolate cream all at once in each forkful of cake but that interest waned after the 3rd helping.

And I have to say the cut of each slice doesn't quite justify the price. Each cake we ordered came in irregular triangular sizes and all were very "slim"!

Black Forest. RM12++.
Though all the cakes were mediocre, this one fared slightly better for me. I could taste a faint flavour of red wine amidst the sponges & cream.

Conclusion: Fresh & nice cakes but not exceptional. Sightly overpriced for the size. If the cakes were meant to have alcohol, then it's certainly a let-down. The baker needs to up the alcohol level by at least another 100%!

It was the last day in Korea. It had been a great week spent in the land of SNSD and SuperJunior. Thanks for Air Asia X again for bringing me to the land of kimchi and Hyundai.

So we woke up early to have breakfast at the coffee house.

Then we all gathered outside the hotel after checking out.

I took the time to take a few more shots of the street in front of the hotel. I bet I will miss this place.

Salam sayang semua. Yes..saya sayang semua orang yang sudi baca dan ikuti blog saya. Terima kasih =) Hari yang mulia ni saya terpanggil nak cerita sikit pasal PPM yang merangkap maksud Pembantu Pengurusan Murid ni.

Iyaa..kalau kalian semua tak tahu PPM tu apa, pergilah ke sekolah sekolah dan cari bahagian pendidikan khas..pasti ada staff sekolah bergelar PPM ni. Jobscope PPM ni sebenarnya menguruskan hal ehwal murid murid pendidikan khas. Mana mana murid yang hyperactive kena jaga, yang terberak terkencing semua kena basuh, kena mop lantai, kena tolong cikgu itu ini, kena jaga kelas supaya sentiasa nampak bersih dan cantik..itu semua tugas PPM.

Betulke kerja jadi Pembantu Pengurusan Murid ni hina ?

Rasanya macam tu ke ? Anyway...bagi penyandang jawatan PPM di sekolah, janganlah rasa macam tu beb. Kita ni kerja cari rezeki halal, jadi PPM ok ape...ingat senang ke nak serap masuk kerja kerajaan ? Jangan terlampau memilih kerja...kalau ada SPM itulah layaknya...tak kiralah kalau ada diploma atau degree pun, kalau dah bergelar PPM tu..buatlah kerja sehabis baik.

Sebagai seorang guru, saya pasti saya pun rasa tak sanggup jugak nak handle semua perkara luar dalam budak budak ni. Iyalah, ada yang tak reti cuci berak, ada yang masih terberak dalam kelas..

Sebab tu saya bersyukur sangat wujud PPM yang boleh bantu guru pendidikan khas di sekolah. Jadi kehadiran PPM dalam sekolah amat saya hargai dan saya sanjungi. Saya harap mereka yang bergelar PPM ni janganlah rasa hina, atau benci dalam menjalankan tugas...Lakukanlah yang terbaik, ikhlas pasti semuanya baik sahaja.

Bagi cikgu cikgu di sekolah pula, hargailah PPM yang membantu anda tu...Jangan wujud puak puak dalam persekitaran tempat kerja, tak elok, tak bekerjasama, tak harmoni...elakkan semua tu dari terjadi sebab kita semua saling memerlukan = )

Tak perlulah beri layanan yang baik pada saya...bercakap seperti tiada apa berlaku, bercakap seperti saya tidak punya hati, bercakap seperti saya takde perasaan...Mungkin kedengaran seperti manis dan sopan saja, tapi percayalah semua yang masuk ke telinga ni pahit dan meracun gegendang telinga saya.

5 Simple Ways To Get Potential Boyfriend

Where to look for potential candidate as your boyfriend?

The blogger of Scribblings In My Digital Diary, Ryan mentioned in his recent post that he has decided that he is ready for a relationship but the problem is where to look for potential candidates and how? According to him, he has tried searching in gay dating websites but from his past experience, majority of the messages he received are from guys who invited him for sex or orgy which is not what he is looking for.

Just imagine how disappointed you'd be after you have created a profile in those dating sites only to get unwanted attention and messages.

So, here's 5 simple ways on how to create a profile that will get the right attention from suitable guys.

1. Put a Decent Picture

If you do not want people asking you for sex, then do not put a picture of yourself shirtless and make sure your facial expression doesn't portray any emotion that you are feeling horny or naughty. In another words, just put a simple and decent picture of yourself if you want people to take you seriously as someone who is not looking for one-night-stand. If you are looking for dates and relationship, why would you want to show your naked body, right?

2. Use Short Sentences

When you write in the column of 'About Me', 'Interests', 'What do you look for in a relationship', try to use short sentences because there are so many other profiles in that site and guys won't have time to read long paragraphs about you. Short words are easier to remember. Furthermore, if you tell almost everything about you like an open book, you won't have anything else to tell the guy personally during your date with him. Keep some for suspense! Hehehe...

3. Choose the Correct Adjectives

Depending on the sites, some profiles have the column for you to tick words to describe your personality/character such as funny, serious, flirty, flamboyant, matured, introvert, extrovert, nerdy, sporty, etc. If you select flirty, flamboyant, guys would assume you're very open and daring with other guys. People would misjudge you for being someone who likes to flirt around. Think about this: which guy likes his boyfriend to be flirty with other guys?

4. Your Contact Method

If you view other profiles, you would see some put their personal contact numbers while some only put their email or MSN Messenger ID while others don't put anything and the only way you can get to them is by sending a message to their inbox in that site. You may put your email if you want but do not put your personal contact number if you don't want unwanted messages or calls.

5. End with a Capturing Question or Statement

At the end of your profile under the 'About Me' section, you can always end it with a question to provoke an interest for guys to know more about you. Make them want to talk to you, meet you. If you write, "Wanna know me more? Email me. " it sounds too cliché and it's not capturing enough. Try this, "Are you the right key to my heart?"

Only yesterday I taught my brother how to create his profile in one of the gay dating website and today he got a virtual heart from a guy. Well, at least someone noticed and like it. Hehehe...

'Twas a beautiful bright cotton cloudy day to go hunting for cheap treasures at Old Blossom Box Store!
Jess and i braved the journey to Shah Alam (actually it was quite near but sounds far to us!)

I bought a long denim dress from Adeline of iLoveSnackFood for RM10.
Can you say STEAL with me?
Also paused at a dress on her rack that caught my eye,
till i realised it used to be MY dress!
It's a vintage one with unique blue print so it's very recognisable.
Wouldn't it be shy if i bought back a dress i sold to her years ago?

Been a long time since i've been to a PROPER flea sale where shopaholics sell their clothes for supercheap,
instead of those flea markets filled with blogshops that all sell the same stuff.

When i paid for all my finds,
Jezmine asked whether i wanted a paperbag,
to which i said no cos i already came prepared with a shopping bag.

I was in Pavilion for an environmental event last Friday,
when i spotted life-size figures of superheroes and huge posters hung about.
The concourse area is selling Superhero T-shirts and other paraphernalia,
while this Superhero… is probably the reason why all the fanfare is going on:

The Green Lantern movie is about to debut this month!
Starring Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively (yum to both!)

The only Superhero i know thoroughly is Superman.
I've lost count of the number of Superman, Supergirl and Action comics i read over and over again when i was a kid.
They all belong to Daddy.

If you like comic heroes and villains, you know where to head before the exhibition is over!
Besides Pavilion, there has been a series of parties dedicated to superheroes and villains!
So if you love comics and cocktails, you know this is what you've been missing out on.

Parties have already taken place at 7atenine and Library @ Avenue K,
with ONE LAST PARTY to wrap up the series!

Old magazines, its pages tattered keeping company the lonely
Apt description for the kopiah wearing Pakcik (or is it Haji?)
All the way he came, paid 25 bucks for a ride in a taxi
To meet one who must surely be somebody
Inside a room, a secretary in front, so pretty

Reads, stands, sits, paces
Every once in a while he peers
At the young lady looking so earnest
A smile so sullen in caught glances

It's his fault, this long wait, the Pakcik swears
Took the odd few minutes away performing his prayers
Could have well been the time he reached his queue
He tried, he did, queried for a clue if said was true
Didn't want to pester the secretary too much
Don't wish to be call an old grouch

He sighs, curls his lips slight
Second to minutes to hours passed
A small window of moment was all he needed
To tell that someone his very plight

The door open, solid wood adorned
From within earshot, laughter's heard
Two men? Could, too, be a third
Guffaws, chatters, a merriness none awkward
Old friends, perhaps, the Pakcik guesses a hazard

Three, indeed, they passed him by
Quick glances, none which registered
The Pakcik had stood, had smiled, the smile since faded
Realising he was all but invisible

"Pakcik datang lain kali."
"Hari ni tak boleh. Datuk busy."
He smiled a smile that's weary
Thinking he was simply, surely unlucky

As down in the corridor, the laughter, noisy
Shoulders slapping, the warmest camaraderie

Salam..

Dua tiga harini saya banyak melayari spiderweb mencari gambar gambar sugar glide dan maklumat tentang sugar glide ni. Saya teringin nak ada pets balik. Dulu time saya ada pets which is Guinea Pig, saya ada bagi orang jaga..tapi sayangnya pets saya tu pun dah mati..

Sekarang ni lagilah, tengah takde mood nak buat macam macam perkara. So memang tengah mencari pets untuk dibela...dan saya pilih untuk membela Sugar Glider !

Mahal memang mahal la sugar glider ni. Tapi kalau dah nak sangat, duit pun dah tak nak berkira dah...lebih baik spend duit kat perkara yang kita suka daripada spend duit untuk benda yang akan beri sakit pada kita balik. Cis, buang masa je kan !

Putrajaya to offer 500 1MDB grants to top students

KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — Putrajaya moved again today to soothe public anger in the recent scholarship fiasco, announcing 500 special education grants to be disbursed by 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) to rejected applicants.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz told a press conference that top scorers who failed to obtain full scholarships from the Public Service Department (PSD) will be given the 1MDB grants to study in local government and private universities.

He said the applicants will not have to go through another interview process but stressed that they must fulfil at least three criteria — academic achievements of 8A+ and above, parents' income level at RM5,000 and below and those with sponsorships from other agencies cannot apply.

"If those with 8A+ and above already have grants, then we will go to students with 7A+ and above and so on. But, they must fulfil these basic requirements," he said.

Nazri (picture), who is in charge of the PSD, chaired a special meeting in Parliament this morning with Barisan Nasional component party leaders today to discuss the 1MDB grants and its distribution.

Just in case you thought I forgot, no, I do not. I may not be the first, or the earliest to wish you, but I hope this entire post will make it a little extra special for you, on your very special day.

How long have we known each other, eh? Sometimes I feel like it's forever. You're like one of my sisters whenever you come around to the house. I can talk just about anything with you. Anything. Even though we don't really have much in common, except our love for books. But I bet you don't even have time to read nowadays.

I remember back in 2003, when we received our SPM results. Mine was so bad, I don't feel like going home. So I hung around your house until evening. I hate the school. I hate some of the people. But I have you and the other girls to make it bearable. Remember those times when we skipped school? I had to carry my blue mountain bike through that hole so that we can escape. Those were the good times.

Honestly, I don't remember if we ever fought. Do you? I remember many things about our friendship, but not any fight. Even when you moved away, even when we went our own way to complete our studies. You down south and me up north. Yeah, then we drift further apart. Physically, at least. We still keep in touch with each other, through our blogs (I read yours every time you update it), through Twitter and Facebook.

Another thing I don't remember, is if I ever dedicate an entire post to you. So, on this special day, I'm dedicating this entire post to you and you only.

Can ye fooking believe it? This dude is on 120,000 sterling pounds a week @ Anfield.

Wot a fooking mess. Fer all the optimism that King Kenny has brought back into the club, reports like this concerning over-inflated wages & disastrous signings really puts things into perspective.

Besides Milan Jovanovic & Joe Cole who are picking up the proverbial gaji buta, we've got to contend with a whole host of players who nay longer fit into our plans & are looking to be shipped off fer nothing or at a considerable loss - see Aqualani, Insua, El Zhar et al.

Fer all those Kopites who think we is gonna be splashing cash like there's nay tomorrow this summer, me thinks the new owners are gonna be looking at the names above & be very circumspect on how they spend the dosh.

Lest not talk about champion's league qualification or title challenges just yet, clearing out the deadwood alone is gonna be a huge test of King Kenny's resolve . . .

Newly-elected PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu (below) fears that victory in Selangor may not be a certainty should a snap election be called in the near term.

Mohamad said to stunned silence from delegates that they had brought prosperity to the state, high wages for teachers and more, but if the general election was called, it was not yet certain if Pakatan would continue to rule Selangor.

The deputy president was tabling the party's central committee motion to galvanise the party in support of the upcoming Bersih 2.0 gathering for electoral reforms and warned that Umno would be up to its devious tricks come elections, such as slipping BN-friendly voters into the electoral roll of Pakatan strongholds and issuing identity cards to permanent residents so they could vote for BN - hence, he moved for the muktamar to endorse the Bersih rally scheduled for July 9, urging the party machinery and allied NGOs to help out and participate to force the government to make elections fairer, cleaner and more transparent.

My 4 days 3 nights trip to bangkok has not only helped me gained 2 kgs (or maybe a little more) and also cause a pain in my ass (for eating too much chilli haha). Now that my tastebuds are still craving for those yummy pad thai and thai milk tea, every taste bud is yearning for some coconut milk to be drizzled over, maybe with some extra sweet chilli sauce to go with some grilled pork. Yum.

As I've tweeted, 95% of the pictures taken from the trip are food. We have about 3 meals a day (i try to have my healthy protein bar *cough* for breakfast and join them for lunch and dinner, went well with the plan) complete with unlimited supply of iced milk tea throughout the trip. How to not get fat?? And seriously those Thai Milk tea are the shit ok. Right amount of milkiness and smokey tea flavour. oh god.

Limbless dream

I had this dream a long time ago. I wrote it down and read it again today. And this post is a complete waste of your time. If you have any to waste.

I cut my limbs off. Out of curiosity. I think. I cut both my hands off the shoulder, using a knife. Just slashed them like a piece of cake. It wasn't painful nor was there any blood.

I think I was trying to prove a point, that the limbs can still be attached to my shoulder's joints after i cut them off. What a brave point to prove. WTF, me?

After that i woke up, and i talked about it to a friend.

i had a super tragic dream today. You wanna hear? It's long.

Haha yea.

Today, i cut both my hands off. up to the shoulder. With a knife.

Ok question. How do u cut the 2nd hand after the first one is gone?

…… Good question. Why did i not think of that?! (nvm don't let the details get in the way of a good dream story)

then i reckoned i need medical help, so i went to the clinic. the doctor was so meh. she looked so scared wtf.

And she went and attended to some other kids. WITH ME STANDING THERE ARMLESS. What kind of doctor does that?!

so we went on a bus/train thingie to go to another hospital, and i panicked because i scared they ask what happened.

ok then i reached, got this young doctor and young nurse, somehow them seemed like they have done this a million times, never asked me what happened also. Put me on a dirty bed with green spots, that time my hands start to feel numb d. IT'S DYING!!!

so the nurse jab me with a freaking huge needle, poke through real hard, but it wasnt THAT painful cuz numb ma.

haha okay

then i realized she was sewing my limbs back, she was DAMN SLOW! so i tried to help her, but screwed up. end up injuring my detached hand. so i stop la.

HAHAHA then? did u use ur feet to help?

THEY STARTED WATCHING TV.

hahaha so tragic! i think it must be the neil gaiman influence.

I wasn't angry, but i panicked. i wanted to switch off the tv, but FML i got no hands.

HAHAHA so weird. Totally defying all logic.

then walked to the doctor and requested for some drugs that make you sleep. With my limbs half attached.

The lesson i learnt is, NEVER CUT YOUR LIMBS OFF. Especially not BOTH.

Gearing up for the French…

Kinokuniya Singapore (which has a French department), asked the French publisher Éditions GOPE when Trois autres Malaisie (Three Other Malaysia), the French translation and retitled version of Lovers and Strangers Revisited will be available. It looks like it'll be out in August, sooner than expected . . . . In the meantime, they are taking Le monde de Suzie Wong (The World of Suzi Wong) and Trois autres Thaïlande (Three Other Thailand), the first book in Éditions GOPE's series of collection of short stories set in Southeast Asia. Trois autres Malaisie will be the second book.

Unlike Lovers and Strangers Revisited, Trois autres Malaisie will be divided into three sections: the Malays, the Chinese, and the Indian—hence the title. For many in France, this will be there first modern introduction to Malaysia, especially via fiction. There will also be sketches by a French cartoonist, I believe, who has spent some time traveling in Southeast Asia including Malaysia. The French blog for Trois autres Malaisie also provides a summary of each story, in French of course. Then there's the French translation of "Transactions in Thai", from Lovers and Strangers Revisited, though not included in Trois autres Malaisie (since it's set in Thailand).

And tomorrow, I will be meeting for the first time the French translator of Trois autres Malaisie, Jerome Bouchaud,who is in Kuching to update his guidebook on Malaysia "Malaisie - Modernité et Traditions en Asie du Sud-Est".

So right now, I'm mentally gearing up for the French…

Back When my eldest sister came to visit in mid April, we were reminiscing on our family recipes, especially all the dishes that our late mother used to prepare on a daily basis. My mother was an excellent and creative home cook. She fed us every day with 4 to 5 dishes. On our dining table, there were always soup, pork/chicken, seafood, tofu/eggs, and vegetables. Somehow, she managed to cook something new and never seemed to run out of ideas. Even though we came from a poor family, we ate well, extremely well…a revelation that I only realized much later in life. As we were talking, I remembered the shrimp fritters, or hee chee, that my mother used to make—doughy nuggets of little shrimp, bean sprouts and flour, fried to golden brown and served with her homemade garlic chili sauce. The thought of the shrimp fritters immediately made my mouth water. It's a dish that I haven't had for a long while, one recipe that my family is particularly fond of… So here it is, my mother's simple yet delicious shrimp fritters recipe. It is very easy to make and takes only a few basic ingredients. I have made it again and again since my sister left, it is so good that my good friend's little boy gave his thumb up after his first bite. Try it and I am sure you will enjoy this homey and nostalgic recipe from my late mother. Other delicious family recipes that you might like:

Chili Crab
Sweet and Sour Eggs (masak Belanda)
Prawn Sambal (sambal udang)
Stewed Pork Ribs
Sesame Oil Chicken
Braised Pork Belly in Soy Sauce (tau yew bak)
Assam Prawn
Fish Head Curry
Squid Curry (gulai sotong)
Stir-fry Pork with Cincaluk
Chai Buey
Sambal Stuffed Fish

Shrimp Fritters Recipe Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tablespoon rice flour, optional
4 oz peeled shrimp, rinsed and pat dry
4 oz bean sprouts, rinsed
1 large egg
3/4 cup water
1/4 heaping teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Oil, for deep-frying Method: Combine all the ingredients (except the oil) in a bowl and mix well. The mixture might seem very dry at first, but eventually, it will become slightly watery. Heat up a wok with enough oil for shallow-frying. As soon as the oil is fully heated, lower it to medium heat. Use a tablespoon to scoop up a heaping tablespoon of the mixture and gently drop it into the wok. Repeat the same until the oil is 80% filled with the shrimp fritters (you will have to fry in 2-3 batches depending on the size of your wok). Turn the shrimp fritters over and fry until both sides are golden brown. Dish out with a strainer, draining excess oil by laying the shrimp fritters on a dish lined with paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite chili sauce. Cook's Notes:

You can trim the ends of the bean sprouts if you like.
You can add some carrot strips into the mixture. It adds color (and a mild sweet flavor) to the shrimp fritters. I also like (orange-color) sweet potato strips, which makes the shrimp fritters even better.
This recipe is best when made with tiny baby shrimp called geragau (which is used to make cincaluk).
